Biography
Prof. Sangit Kumar holds Ph.D. from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, following a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee).
His professional journey began with postdoctoral research, where he served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Chemistry, University at Buffalo, State University of New York (SUNY), USA. Following that, Dr. Kumar continued his postdoctoral work in the Department of Bio- & Organic Chemistry at Uppsala University, Sweden.
Dr. Kumar joined the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal, India, in January 2009 and he continues to hold.
Dr. Kumar's research is centered on the preparation of novel organochalcogen compounds (involving sulfur, selenium, and tellurium) and their application in various fields, including antioxidant activity and catalysis. His work has significant implications for bromination and oxidation reactions, contributing to advancements in both synthetic chemistry and potential biomedical applications.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kumar has been dedicated to pushing the boundaries of chemical research, especially in exploring the unique properties and uses of organochalcogen compounds. His contributions have established him as a leading figure in his field.
