Biography

Dr Anu Dalal is a dynamic and accomplished chemist with a distinguished career in synthetic organic chemistry, drug discovery, and translational science. She served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA where she is part of groundbreaking projects under the NIH HEAL Initiative and in AI-driven drug discovery. Her research focuses on the synthesis of bioactive molecules and the development of therapeutic strategies targeting metabolic weaknesses in cancer.

Anu earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, where she specialized in the total synthesis of natural products and computer-aided drug design. She also holds a master’s degree in chemistry from IIT Roorkee and a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Hansraj College, University of Delhi. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS), the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), and the NIH Women Scientists Advisors (NIH-WSA) Committee.

Anu’s achievements have been recognized with several awards, including the NIH Summer Research Mentor Award, the Astrid and Carl-Thomas Epping Fellowship to attend the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, and the Rex Karmaveer Global Young Leaders Fellowship. Anu is passionate about mentoring, teaching, and science communication. She also serves as a mentor in the Lindau Mentoring Hub and has supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students in both India and the USA. As a dedicated advocate for science education, she has organized seminars and workshops globally to promote scientific literacy and engagement in schools. Her commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and fostering the next generation of scientists drives her to contribute meaningfully to scientific discovery, innovation, and the dissemination of scientific knowledge.
